A drug dealer has been jailed after leaping from a moving car and discarding bundles of crack cocaine in Nottingham. Nashon Maleta, 22, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday (22 April).

Officers from the knife crime team were on patrol in Nottingham on 30 January 2026. They spotted a BMW which was linked to drug crime. The team began to follow the vehicle.

When their marked car’s blue lights were activated, the BMW accelerated. It then ploughed into wheelie bins in Ossington Close. Nashon Maleta decamped from the car and ran up a grass bank.

Officers caught up with him and found he had cash in his pockets. Officers found two large bundles containing wraps of Class A drugs in the area he had run through. Maleta denied discarding the drugs, saying ‘he hadn’t thrown anything’.

Searches of two addresses linked to him uncovered a rock of cocaine. Cannabis, cash, and other drugs paraphernalia were also found.

Maleta, of Sketchley Street, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, and possession of criminal property. He also admitted driving without due care and attention and driving without a licence or insurance. He was jailed for a total of three years and nine months.

Police Statement

Police Constable Daniel Cresswell, of the knife crime team, said: “Maleta wanted us to believe that these freshly discarded bundles of drugs were nothing to do with him. Even though there was no one else in the area and the street value of the drugs made it highly unlikely they would be left in the street. Maleta has an unenviable record for dealing drugs so I’m pleased he will now be spending a period behind bars.”
