Joland Giwa

Joland Giwa, 36, known as "The General", has been jailed for drug supply offences. He received a sentence of three years and 11 months in prison.

Arrest and Charges

Giwa was arrested in February. Police, supported by NPAS, followed his car to an address in Risca.

Officers wanted to speak to Giwa in connection with an unrelated offence. He ran into the property and hid in a cupboard upstairs.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday 10 April. He admitted possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin, and possession with intent to supply cocaine. Giwa also pleaded guilty to possession of criminal property.

Officer's Statement

Officer in the case, DC Bradley, stated: "Joland Giwa was found with nearly £16,000 worth of class A drugs and more than £2,000 in cash after trying to evade our officers. Coupled with the drug-related messaged and text bombs advertising the sale of drugs from on his phone, Giwa had no option but to plead guilty."

DC Bradley added: "We know the devastation that drug dealing can have on our communities. Those involved in the supply of drugs have no regard for the lives they affect and the harm they can cause. We hope that this sentence demonstrates our commitment to pursuing those involved in serious and organised crime and bringing them to justice."
