A man has been charged with murder following the death of Adisu Chala, 27, in Birmingham. Mr Chala was found seriously injured on Mott Street on Monday, 20 April.
He was tragically confirmed dead at the scene at around 12.30am.
In a statement, Adisu's family said: "Adisu was the youngest member of our family, deeply loved and cherished by all of us. "He was a kind, respectful, and valued person whose presence touched the lives of many. "He will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, sense of humour, dedication, and for the way he cared for those around him. "To us, he was more than the circumstances of his passing. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, someone who brought light into the lives of others. "His absence leaves a profound void that cannot be filled. No parent, nor any brother or sister, should ever have to bury a loved one so young. We want justice for what happened. "No one should ever have to go through such a tragedy, and Adisu did not deserve to lose his life in this way. "We sincerely hope that justice will be served. We ask that he be remembered for the person he was and the life he lived, rather than the circumstances of his passing. "Our thoughts remain with all who knew and loved him. He will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace."
An investigation was started by the West Midlands Police homicide unit. Momodou Johm, 39, from Bristol, has now been charged with murder.
He was remanded to appear before magistrates in Birmingham today, 23 April.
West Midlands Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area and has information about what happened to come forward. You can contact them via Live Chat on their website, or call 101, quoting log 103 of 20 April.
