Father Jailed for Stabbing Son in Forest Town

A father has been jailed for 15 years after stabbing his own son in Forest Town. Anthony Kimberely, 59, received the sentence on Friday 17 April.

Kimberely stabbed his 39-year-old son three times in the chest. The incident occurred at an address in Garabaldi Road, Forest Town, at about 9.30pm on 2 August last year.

A trial in January heard an argument began inside the house. It then spilled out into the garden.

The victim was found collapsed in the street a short time later. He suffered wounds to his chest and arm. The blow to his chest punctured the membrane around his heart, requiring intensive care.

Kimberely was arrested at the scene. He also received hospital treatment. When interviewed by detectives the following day, he gave no comment answers.

Court Proceedings

A jury at Nottingham Crown Court cleared Kimberely of attempted murder. He was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Appearing at the same venue on Friday 17 April, he was jailed for 15 years. A restraining order was also issued, forbidding any further contact with the victim.

Police Statement

Detective Constable Jemma Stuman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "The victim in this case could easily have died as a result of this very violent assault. Kimberley chose to arm himself with a weapon in the moments before this incident and should count himself lucky that his actions did not prove fatal. As he begins a very lengthy prison sentence I hope this incident serves a s a warning to others - that if you pick up a knife in anger the consequences can and will be extremely serious."
