Police were called to reports of a house party in Whittington Oval on Saturday (4 April). A BMW left the scene and failed to stop for officers.
Special constables saw two men exiting the vehicle a short distance away. An area search found two men hiding behind another car.
A machete and a bag containing a handgun were found under a bush. The men were arrested.
The BMW was stopped nearby. A search of it led to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested.
Alseny Camara, aged 21, and Emmanuel Popoola, aged 20, from Birmingham, appeared at the city’s magistrates court yesterday (6 April). Julian Donken, aged 20, from Nottingham, also appeared.
The three were all charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, and possession of a blade. They were remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing next month.
