The family of James McKeown, 62, also known as Jimmy, have paid tribute to a loving father and partner following his death. Mr McKeown died after an incident in Beaumont Leys Park on Monday evening, 6 April.

James McKeown was found unconscious in the park around 6.20pm. He was taken to hospital where he sadly passed away.

Family Statement

A family spokesperson said: "To say that the events of yesterday evening have changed our lives forever is an understatement. We have lost a loving father, brother, partner and grandfather, our lives will never be the same again. Jimmy has lived locally for nearly 20 years and was well known in the community, affectionately known to many as Spider. We would ask that people respect our privacy and give us the time to come to terms with what has happened."

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames from East Midlands Murder Investigation Team, said: "This is an extremely difficult time for Jimmy’s family and specialist officers continue to support them. If you have any information about the incident, or the circumstances leading up to it, and have not yet spoken with officers, we would ask that you get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 or report via http://www.leics.police.uk, quoting incident 572 of 6 April.

An area within Beaumont Leys Park was cordoned off while officers carried out their enquiries, but that has since been lifted.
