A homeowner’s dream move has quickly turned into a "grim" nightmare after discovering their new corner plot sits directly on what they have described as a "major dog walking motorway."

The frustrated resident revealed that within just two weeks of moving in, their front gate has become a daily target for irresponsible pet owners.

The situation reached a breaking point when an "absolute unit" of a mess was left directly in the centre of the gate entrance, described by the owner as a "horrible welcome gift."

Family and guests have already fallen victim to the "daily game of hopscotch," with several visitors stepping in hidden deposits along the grass verge and trailing them into the house.

The failure of fines

Despite the presence of official council signs warning of £1,000 fines, the homeowner claims the deterrents are having "precisely zero effect" on the local community.

The problem has been further exacerbated by the property's proximity to local stables, leading to a "Mt. Turdverest" of horse manure being left on the pavement outside.

Desperate for a solution, the resident took to social media to ask if they are "doomed to live outside a canine lavatory forever" or if there are practical steps to reclaim their pavement.

Reddit community reactions have been swift, with many suggesting a "name and shame" approach using doorbell cameras to catch offenders in the act.

Some neighbours suggested using specific cleaning fluids to neutralise scents, as dogs are known to return to spots where they can smell previous deposits.

Others have called on local authorities to be more proactive, noting that many councils have never actually issued a fine despite the significant revenue potential.

"Hassle the local authority until they get off their arses," one resident advised, while others suggested more "discreet" methods of returning the mess to the owners' doorsteps.
