A 47-year-old man from Chippenham has appeared in court and admitted to multiple charges involving the making of indecent images of children.

Adam Das, formerly known as Rodney Fernandes, pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child during a hearing at Swindon Magistrates Court on 24 March 2026.

Police Investigation

The case began in December 2024 when Wiltshire Police received a report that an indecent image of a child had been uploaded to the internet. Following initial enquiries, officers attended Das's address, where he was arrested.

During a search of the property, a number of electronic devices were seized. Specialist investigators discovered a significant quantity of accessible indecent images of children, which have been attributed to Das. The digital forensic examination uncovered:

  • 67 Category A images (the most serious classification)
  • 290 Category B images
  • 1,821 Category C images

Child Safeguarding

Detective Constable Justine Parsons, from the Child Internet Exploitation Team, emphasised the severity of the case following the guilty plea.

DC Parsons stated:

“These are extremely serious offences. Our priority remains protecting children from harm. We will continue to carry out diligent investigations into reports of online child abuse like this case to ensure offenders are put before the courts.”

Das has been remanded to appear again at Swindon Magistrates Court on 29 April 2026, where he will be sentenced for the offences.
