Trent Vale Man Jailed for Child Sex Offences by Staffordshire Police

April 22, 2026

A man has been jailed for more than three years after admitting child sex offences. Shaun Mitchell, 29, from Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced today.

Mitchell received three-years-and-four-months behind bars. The sentencing occurred at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday 17 April.

He admitted six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl. Mitchell also admitted two counts of causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity. These admissions were made at an earlier hearing.

The victim reported Mitchell to police in 2024. Mitchell was arrested following the report. He answered 'no comment' to all questions asked in custody but later admitted the offences in court.

Police Statement

Detective Constable Jacob Thackstone, from the public protection unit, led the investigation.

He stated: "I would like to commend the bravery of the victim in coming forward and telling us what had happened to her. I hope this sentencing shows that all reports of sexual offences, whether they are recent or historical, are taken seriously and we will take robust action against those responsible."
