Man jailed for nine years over death of police colleague

A man has been sentenced to nine years in custody for the death of South Yorkshire Police communications officer Ellie Smart. Dean Tolan, 35, received the sentence today following proceedings related to a collision.

The collision took place on 25 January 2024. Ellie Smart was tragically killed at the age of 29.
