Cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) is set to revolutionise ancient health wisdom, as a Hong Kong start-up teams up with a Chinese pharmaceutical giant. This game-changing partnership could transform how traditional medicine is developed, making it more scientific and effective for patients.
Hong Kong-incubated AilsynBio, a drug discovery start-up, has officially signed an innovative project cooperation agreement with Dong-E E-Jiao Co., Ltd. The subsidiary of China Resources Pharmaceutical Group is looking to integrate AI with traditional medicine technologies.
The goal? To empower biopharmaceutical innovation and bring ancient remedies into the modern age. The signing ceremony took place at the Hong Kong Science Park on 13 April 2026.
The collaboration will focus on three key areas. Firstly, it will advance AI-driven innovation, using AilsynBio’s AI drug discovery platform to speed up biopharmaceutical research and development.
Secondly, the partnership will launch specialised research into Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI), a crucial area for women’s health. Finally, it aims to promote cross-border fusion, blending biotechnology, AI, and traditional medicine to create a new health industry paradigm.
Dr Bo Chen, Chief Scientific Officer of China Resources Pharmaceutical, emphasised the significance of the deal. He noted: "This collaboration with Dong-E-E-Jiao and AilsynBio is a key initiative for China Resources Pharmaceutical in advancing the modernisation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)."
He added that it represents a deep integration of industry, academia, and research between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Dr Chen hopes to overcome challenges in TCM's mechanisms and pave an innovative path for it to evolve from empirical to evidence-based medicine.
Mr Liang Zheng, Vice President of Dong-E-E-Jiao, highlighted the impact on their products. He stated: "As a core strategic product for Dong-E-E-Jiao, deepening the scientific value of Compound E-Jiao Syrup is crucial for our brand upgrade."
He believes this cooperation will strengthen the scientific foundation of their products in women’s health. This will help Dong-E-E-Jiao accelerate into a new stage of 'reshaping TCM wisdom through technological innovation.'
