Further Two Arrests Made in Barnsley Death Investigation

Two further arrests have been made by South Yorkshire Police following the death of a man in Barnsley. This brings the total number of people arrested in connection with the incident to four.

Investigation Details

Officers investigating the death were called by the ambulance service at 4.55pm on Friday 3 April. This followed a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Volkswagen Touareg. The incident occurred in Rose Tree Avenue in Cudworth.

The pedestrian, a 45-year-old man, sadly died at the scene. His family continue to be supported by our officers.

Today (Saturday 4 April), a 33-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They both remain in police custody.

Yesterday, a 60-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were both arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.

A scene which was in place in Rose Tree Avenue has since been lifted.

Police Appeal

South Yorkshire Police are continuing to work at pace to understand the circumstances of this incident. They are asking for anyone with information which could assist officers with their enquiries to come forward.
