Witness appeal launched after fatal guided busway collision in Luton

Bedfordshire Police have launched an investigation following a fatal collision involving a man and a guided bus in Luton.

Emergency services were called to the guided busway in Telford Way at approximately 1:18 am on Wednesday 18 March 2026. A man in his 20s was found injured at the scene and was later pronounced dead.

Investigation and Appeal

The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit is currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers believe the victim was involved in a collision with a guided bus.

Detective Sergeant Shona Searle, who is leading the investigation, described the event as a "deeply tragic incident" and confirmed that the victim's family and friends are being supported.

Witness Information Required

Investigators are specifically looking to speak with anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Telford Way, Hatters Way, or Dunstable Road near the Birdcage roundabout between 12:50 am and 1:15 am.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to the collision or captured any dashcam footage of the area during that timeframe.
