A 34-year-old man from Buckinghamshire has been sentenced to 16 years in prison following an investigation into child sexual abuse and the possession of thousands of indecent images.

Danny Raymond Smith, of Iver, was sentenced at Amersham Crown Court on Monday 16 March 2026. In addition to his custodial sentence, Smith was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Details of the Offences

The court heard that Smith groomed and abused two children between 2017 and 2025. His crimes were uncovered when he attempted to upload indecent images of children to a Google account.

Following a warrant at his home address, Smith was arrested on 23 July 2025 and charged the following day. On 14 November 2025, he pleaded guilty to:

  • Two counts of raping a child under 13
  • Five counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
  • Three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child
  • One count of sexual activity with a child

Forensic Evidence

A forensic examination of a computer owned by Smith uncovered thousands of indecent images. The material was classified as follows:

  • 956 images at Category A (the most serious level)
  • 956 images at Category B
  • 2,842 images at Category C

Police Statement

Detective Constable Lucy Sandford, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit based in Aylesbury, commended the victims for their "incredible bravery" in coming forward.

"By coming forward and putting their trust in the police, they have helped us to put a dangerous and predatory man in prison," DC Sandford said. "Smith targeted two children, who are some of the most vulnerable members of our society. I would urge anyone who has concerns for a child to please contact police."

Thames Valley Police reminded the public that they will work tirelessly to bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice and encouraged anyone with concerns to seek advice via their official website.
