A 33-year-old man has been charged following a report of a serious sexual assault of a teenage girl in Boston.
James Savage, also known as Jay Savage, of Marsh Lane, Boston, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday 17 March 2026. He has been charged with rape by penetration of the mouth of a teenage girl, child abduction, threats with a bladed article, and the taking of indecent images.
Savage is scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 19 March.
The Lincolnshire Police Force Control Room received the initial report just after midnight on Tuesday. Local response officers and armed response units were dispatched to the Marsh Lane area, where a suspect was located and apprehended at The Lord Grey Hotel at 1:45 am.
Detective Inspector Claire Rimmer, of Boston’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, is leading the case. She confirmed that the investigation involves an alleged rape by an individual unknown to the victim.
DI Rimmer noted that while such incidents are alarming, they are "extremely rare" in Lincolnshire. She also confirmed that police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the matter.
"This investigation remains active, and we strongly urge the public to avoid speculation on social media and within group messaging apps to maintain the integrity of the judicial process," DI Rimmer said. "Misinformation can have serious legal consequences and may hinder justice for all involved."
The force further reminded the public that all victims of sexual assault are afforded lifelong anonymity, and any breach of this right will be dealt with robustly.
